Himalayan Salt Lamp Size Guide: Which Size Is Right for Which Room

Why Size Matters Beyond Looks
Salt lamp size is usually chosen for visual scale relative to a room, and occasionally for the amount of surface area people believe affects the lamp’s mild humidity effect (more surface area, more hygroscopic effect, though still modest in absolute terms). Either way, matching weight band to room size avoids a lamp that looks lost in a large space or overwhelming in a small one.
Desk & Small Spaces: 1.5–3 kg
Desk lamps and small night-light formats in the 1.5–3 kg range suit desks, nightstands, and small bathrooms — enough presence to notice without dominating a small surface.
Standard Rooms: 3–7 kg
The most popular range for bedrooms, home offices, and living-room side tables — substantial enough to be a visual anchor on a console or shelf without requiring a dedicated stand.
Larger Rooms & Focal Points: 10–20 kg
For a living room centerpiece, entryway table, or larger bedroom, the 10–20 kg range gives real visual weight and typically sits on its own stand or a sturdy side table rather than a shelf.
Statement & Commercial: 20 kg and Up
Above 20 kg moves into statement territory — spa lobbies, retail window displays, and large living spaces. Our showpiece lamps above 160 kg ship on a wooden table built in our own workshop and are typically a commercial or architectural feature rather than a retail impulse purchase. Retailers choosing a size range for their shelf should see our wholesale guide for gift and home-décor retailers for how we box and price each band.
